Well, the day began with an ominous note, it had stormed all night, thunder and lightning, but it wasn't raining when I saddled up. I met up with the others at Bolivar Caltex, and rolled, next stop Yunta. Dark, no street lights, wet and unknown to me, riding with four others I never rode with before, all far more experienced than myself. Yunta came, we fueled with the next stop Broken Hill, NSW. at the 30km post West of Cockburn, Jim's R100 Differential locked up. He decided to call the Auto Club (RAA) to pick up the bike and called the trip off. Good thing he was able to pull over. We regrouped skipped lunch and rode on through Broken Hill, Wilcannia to Cobar, most of in barren desert.

Day two, we rode in rain 90% of the day, Bourke, Cunnamulla, Wyandra, ending at Charleville. Flat desolate and on this day wet, but good roads and we made good time. Not much to tell however, because of the rain we didn't stop except for fuel.

Day three, looked like rain so on with the Dri-Riders.Augathela, Tambo for fuel, met a K1100 Ulysses Member there, first one. Blackall, Barcaldine. Jericho, Alpha, Emerald, Capella.Really nice rooms, clean and friendly called the "Bottlebrush Motel".

Day four, nice weather left at 0800 due north through Clermont then to Belyando Crossing, great roads so far, where we fueled at set off to Charter Towers, the road narrows to single lane for about 50 km. We called ahead and reserved a room in Ingham, rode through to Townsville and north to Ingham. Good thing we had reserved rooms, Ulysses members everywhere. We are now in the tropics, so in to the pool, felt great! Next morning, Macca's for breakfast, and on to Cairns, civilisation slows us down, we averaged 82km/hr., what a shock. So we are in Cairns, safe, a little sore, but we are here. Beautiful, hot, humid and so green your eyes hurt.
