Off with the DriRiders and into the shorts. We unpack the bikes and move into our temporary room, since we arrived here a day early. A double bed and a three stack bunk bed. I wander around the park while Colin heads off to try to fix his rear brake which is spongy and doesn't seem to work. We do some cleaning of the bikes and generally start to relax in the manner appropriate to the tropics.

The check in process in really smooth and easy. On Friday we have really bad evening packed snacks and we meet other members and talk about the trip. Saturday the IBMWR member have a linch in Cairns to unveil the Australian Banner and to meet for the first time, I post more pictures later, as my camera batterieswent flat. Saturday evening we have one of the worst meals ever, but the atmosphere and comradeship of a couple of thousand bikes somewhat substitutes for the food. Later we join in with the music, dancing and liquid comsumption. On Sunday we elect to take a tour via train and calble car into the rain forest around Cairns and visit the markets in Karunda.

Monday I go into Cairns for a ride around and have a couple really good coffees. later, I saddle up and take a ride to Pt. Douglas to see how the rich and famous do life.
